NEWS UPDATE by Grant VK5GR — This will be a one man holiday style Dxpedition with family, and so operating will be at times limited. I will try and plan some days when I will definitely be active (working around solar storms etc if needed) and publicise them at little closer to the day. Other days will be family time, and completely dependent on what we are doing while exploring this island paradise.

Station

The plan is to take a 500W station with a vertical folded monopole for 40m – 6m, which with a tuner may prove partially effective on 80m as well. The principle activity will be on digital modes (so I can operate when the family is asleep) but there will be some SSB activity as well. The rigs will be an Elecraft K3+KPA500+KAT500. The antenna has been designed and built by Steve VK5SFA. Follow this link for details. The digital interface will be a Microham Keyer II (which I hope to figure out how to get it to do FSK with the K3 before I leave ).

Dates

The trip will see us arrive in Niue on September 12th (Niue time) and I expect the station to be active by end of day on the 13th (VK stations please remember Niue is on the other side of the date line, so this will be well into the 14th of September for VK/ZL). I am in particular planning on being active during the CQ WW RTTY contest on the weekend of the 23rd/24th of September. Last day will be Monday 25th of September (as we fly home on Tuesday 26th via New Zealand).

QSL Details & Website

I will be arranging QSLing via OQRS (service TBC) and provided the Internet feed is reliable enough I hope to post logs daily (I am told it operates a bit “when it feels like it” so not sure just how good or bad it will be). Callsign

I have been in touch with the Niue authorities and have reserved the callsign E6AG for the activation. Licensing paperwork is still in progress however so this isn’t 100% confirmed (although I don’t expect it to change at this stage).

Status

We have reservations but not confirmed bookings for the airline (should be locked down in the next 24hrs) and we still need to confirm the accommodation so things could all head sideways yet, I also need to contact the IOTA team and confirm what their requirements are to confirm the activation so it can count. Other than that, leave from work is booked for everyone so as far as we are concerned we are going!

NOUVELLES MISE À JOUR – Grant VK5GR – Ce sera un DXpedition style de vacances d’un homme avec sa famille, et ainsi de fonctionnement sera parfois limitée. Je vais essayer de planifier quelques jours quand je vais certainement être actif (travail autour des tempêtes solaires etc si nécessaire) et les faire connaître à peu près de la journée. D’autres jours seront temps en famille, et complètement dépendante de ce que nous faisons tout en explorant cette île paradisiaque.

Station

Le plan est de prendre un poste de 500W avec un monopôle replié vertical pour 40m – 6 m, qui, avec un tuner peut se révéler partiellement efficace sur 80m ainsi. L’activité principale sera sur les modes numériques (afin que je puisse fonctionner lorsque la famille dort), mais il y aura une certaine activité SSB ainsi. Les plates-formes seront un Elecraft K3 + KPA500 + KAT500. L’antenne a été conçu et construit par Steve VK5SFA. Suivez ceci Lien pour plus de détails. L’interface numérique sera un microHAM Manipulateur II (qui je l’espère pour savoir comment obtenir à faire avec le K3 FSK avant de partir).

Le voyage verra nous arrivons à Nioué le 12 Septembre (heure Niue) et je prévois la station d’être actif en fin de journée le 13 (stations VK s’il vous plaît rappelez-vous Niue est de l’autre côté de la ligne de date, ce sera donc bien dans le 14 Septembre pour VK / ZL). Je suis dans la planification particulière d’être actif pendant le concours CQ WW RTTY le week-end du 23 / 24ème de Septembre. Le dernier jour sera le lundi 25 Septembre (comme nous volons à la maison mardi 26 par la Nouvelle-Zélande).

QSL Details & Website

J’organiserons QSLing via OQRS (Service à confirmer) et a fourni l’alimentation Internet est assez fiable, je l’espère publier les journaux tous les jours (on me dit qu’il fonctionne un peu « quand il se sent comme il » donc je ne sais à quel point bon ou mauvais, il sera être). Un site Web de l’expédition est en construction et devrait être disponible dans quelques semaines. www.e6ag.net

Callsign

Je suis en contact avec les autorités Niue et ont réservé l’E6AG pour l’activation callsign. documents de licence est toujours en cours mais si ce n’est pas confirmée à 100% (bien que je ne m’y attendais pas à changer à ce stade).

Status

Nous avons des réserves, mais pas les réservations confirmées pour la compagnie aérienne (devrait être verrouillé dans les prochaines 24 heures) et nous avons encore besoin de confirmer l’hébergement si les choses ont besoin toutes tête pourrait le côté encore, je également contacter l’équipe IOTA et confirmer quels sont leurs besoins pour confirmer l’activation de sorte qu’il peut compter. A part cela, laisser du travail est réservé pour tout le monde afin autant que nous nous allons concernés!
